Gesta's first collection

Currently Gesta's first collection contains seven pendants, all are perfect replicas of finds from 10th century Hungary. This particular era is very important and glorious in the history of the country as the period of the Hungarian conquest. All the pieces are made under paganism, however the cross from Tiszaeszlár signals the contacts with Christianity.

Name:"Nyíracsád"

The original disc was found in 1936 during grape cultivation work. It was cast in white bronze. The ornament is a fabulous creature similar to horse. The three branched shamanistic "Tree of Life" grows from its back.
Owned by County Museum of Debrecen, East Hungary.
Gesta made virtually no alterations, size, form and surface are the same, but with an additional loop at the top. Sterling Silver, 0.925 fine.

Name:"Eagle"

Originally this eagle belonged to a set of belt mounts. Found in the first cemetery of Karos, one of the richest archaeological sites in Hungary. This silver eagle is considered as an outstanding proof of the richness of the grave. Owned by The Hungarian National Museum.
Gesta made virtually no alterations except for not applying a little tag, which was important to fix the eagle on the belt, but was unnessesary to add to a jewelry piece. Additional loop at the top. Sterling Silver, 0.925 fine.

Name:"Slender Tendrils"

Origin of the disc is unknown. Slender Tendrils depicting the Tree of Life on this object which was used as a braid ornament. Originally it is cast in bronze with engraving on the surface. Owned by The Hungarian National Museum.
Gesta made no alterations except for adding loop at the top. Sterling Silver, 0.925 fine.

Name:"Caftan"

Caftan mounts like this were found in Rakamaz, North-East Hungary. The ranking of the grave of the male was undoubtedly indicated by several other preciuos items. The mount was cast in silver. The background is gilded originally. Owned by Jósa András Museum of Nyíregyháza.
Gesta don't use silver and gold on the same pendant, but other alterations have not been made. Additional loop at the top. Sterling Silver, 0.925 fine.

Name:"Sárospatak"

Two silver discs were found in Sárospatak, cast from the same mould. Details of the ornaments were worked with a punch and graver after casting in silver. The palmette design depicts a tree with branches and leaves. Owned by The Hungarian National Museum.

Name:"Kenézlő"

Ten wide mounts like this were among those that survived from the beltset of this grave in Kenézlő, North-East Hungary. Ornamented with a pair of palmettes, owned by Jósa András Museum of Nyíregyháza.
Gesta made no alterations except for not eliminating the tags at the back of the pieces which were intended to fix the mounts on the belt. Additional loop at the top. Sterling Silver, 0.925 fine.

Name:"Cross"

This reliquary cross was found in Tiszaeszlár, North-East Hungary. Figure of Christ crucified and perhaps four evangelists can be seen on the surface. The facial features are schematic. Owned by Jósa András Museum of Nyíregyháza. The cross belongs to the so-called Holy Land variety, made in Byzantium during the 10-11th centuries.
Gesta has made some alterations as originally it was a reliquary cross made from two parts with two different ornaments. This pendant is only replica of the obverse. On the reverse originally is the Virgin Mary in a similar style. Sterling Silver, 0.925 fine.
